Julie was still asleep when I woke up.
For a moment I lay still and listened to the air conditioner, my head heavy from the previous night of cocktails and dancing. I wasn’t hungover, but I’d drank enough that the morning light peeking around the edge of the blackout drapes felt like an invasion of our sanctuary. Julie seemed less bothered, her quiet, uneven breathing drifting from the pile of blankets on the other bed. I rolled onto my side and checked my phone.
It was just after six in the morning.
Despite the lingering heaviness in my limbs, my body felt restless, bristling at the memory of Julie recounting her flirtation with the guy by the pool. Oh, yeah, he’s actually sooooo nice. Super kind and a bit dorky. Shame I got to him first, right?
She changed position in her sleep as if aware I was thinking about her, adjusting the blanket to reveal a tiny pair of panties twisted around her hips, her face pressed down into the pillow, hair fanned out all around her.
Even like that, she looked like a goddess.
How annoying.
Julie’s aptitude for sleeping was unmatched, and experience told me she would be out for at least another hour, so I slid out of bed carefully and grabbed my bikini, still damp and smelling faintly of chlorine. I slipped it on, grabbed a towel, tied my hair up, and headed for the door.
Outside the room, the corridor was empty, and aside from a few people leaving for day excursions, most people wouldn’t be up yet. That was what I liked about being an early riser; no shouting kids, no booming music from the bar, no one fighting for sunbeds with towels and passive-aggressive looks.
Just the early morning light and the calls of the local birds.
The elevator was already on our floor. I pressed the button and stepped in. The doors closed with a soft clunk, and I watched the floor numbers tick down as I leaned against the metal rail, cool against my lower back. In the mirror, I watched as I pressed my breasts together, the fabric of the bikini straining to hold them. Maybe I was still a little drunk from last night, but I started to think Julie was right; having humongous boobs wasn’t the worst thing in the world.
I stepped out of the elevator, telling myself I wasn’t coming down early to find him, telling myself I wasn’t already planning what I would say, telling myself that–
“Ow!”
“Oh, fuck–oh my god, sorry! Are you okay?”
“I–shit, I didn’t see you there!”
“Jeeze, it’s all over you…”
He had been coming round the corner, phone in one hand, plastic cup of water in the other. I had been going the other way, looking to my left, wondering which restaurant I was going to for lunch. We had collided, hard enough that he had crushed his cup of water and sent it cascading down my chest, where it flowed its rivulets into my cleavage and across my nipples.
I looked up at him, our eyes meeting properly for the first time. He was tall, much taller than he’s looked from across the pool. He looked away, shaking his head in embarrassment.
“Damn. I got you so wet.”
His eyes widened with panic.
“Shit, I mean–”
I giggled. “It’s fine. Here.”
I handed him my towel. He looked down at his T-shirt, a splash of water with a faint imprint of where my breasts had pressed against him.
“Thank you.” He took the towel and dabbed his chest.
“No worries,” I said. “It’s my fault, I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“No, really, I didn’t think anyone else would be up at this time. I should have been looking. Are you staying at the hotel, too?”
“It would be weird if I wasn’t,” I smiled.
His eyes flushed to my still-shimmering cleavage. He laughed nervously. “Sorry. Stupid question, I guess.”
I shrugged, taking the towel as he handed it back to me. I dabbed it on my chest. “So, you met my friend Julie yesterday?”
His eyes widened. “Oh, no way? She’s your friend?”
“Mm-hm,” I tilted my head slightly. “We’re here together. I was actually sitting on the other side of the pool when she came over to speak to you. You looked kinda nervous.”
He groaned. “Oh god. You saw that? I swear, she just kind of…appeared. One minute I’m reading and the next minute she’s standing over me and asking if I’m lonely.”
I laughed. “Subtle as ever.”
“What do you mean?”
“Never mind,” I smiled. “What are you up to now?”
“Trying to find coffee. I couldn’t sleep so I gave in and got up.”
“Same here. Jet lag always messes with me when I travel.” I nodded. “So, how about you buy me a cup to make it up to me?” I looked down at my chest, still glistening. “It can be the second beverage you’ve shared with me this morning.”
He laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
“I guess that’s right. Sorry again about that.”
I shrugged. “I’m Sarah, by the way.
“Max,” he replied. “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.”
I smiled, pushing my breasts together slightly as I shook his hand, subtly enough to be deniable, but obvious enough that the fabric tented slightly over my nipples as they bulged.
I guess Julie was right; it was fun to be a little slutty.
I looked up at him.
“Let’s go get that coffee.”
